Sandstone Properties appointed Hetzel Design to conceptualize building envelope for a mid-rise office building on Barrington Avenue in Los Angeles. Eleven story structure needed to maximize building envelope to fulfill the challenging economic parameters. Automated parking was proposed with the goal to maximize GLA as well.
A contemporary minimalist glass curtain envelope sports colorful spandrel panels which break up the building volume. Metal mesh façade panels are proposed for the cladding of the automated parking. Oversized building signage is used as decorative façade element. A floating roof plane distinguishes the recessed penthouse level.
The building features a specious lobby and high-end rooftop bar with spectacular views. Both interiors boldly use large reflective red colored surfaces in combination with blond wood, a trademark feature of Sandstone Properties.
